Christmas Letter 2021

Image
We have met a lot of people over the years so I used to send out hundreds of Christmas cards. Over the years, the list has been cut back to a hundred or two. I used to receive quite a few yearly Christmas letters but over time that has dwindled as well. My enjoyment of reading of the doings of other people encouraged me to continue sending out my own.  This year however December unfolded differently than I had anticipated. My intention was to have my letter written, copied and my cards all sent by Thanksgiving weekend. Most of the very few that I sent didn't arrive until after Christmas although the letter was written and copied well before that waiting for me.  So I decided to put my letter in this blog. The weakness in that plan is that most of the people who didn't receive my letter don't do facebook or much else on the computer.  I struggled all month with lethargy and a distinct lack of "ganas de viver" (enthusiasm for life). Adventure #10-Inktober

Image
At the beginning of October, my sister, the artist, began posting ink sketches with the hashtag inktober followed by one word. It took me several posts before it donned on me that they were her sketches.  In my defense, she frequently shares other artist's work. It took me even longer to make the connection between the word and her drawing as her art is a bit on the abstract side. I had never heard of it so the added information was very helpful. To aid inspiration, each day is given a word. The idea of trying to sketch each day appealed to me but as I scanned the list of words, I felt no connection. Out of curiosity, I scrolled down through other post...

Adventure #9-No Time to Pack

No Time to Pack                                           Back to my National Parks Trip. It is now Sunday morning, a week before departure, which arrived before I was ready for it. After listening to my brother-in-law preach live stream, I finished preparations for the preschool Children's class that I teach the first two Sundays of every month. I talked with Joe about my fallen tree. He unexpectedly sounded excited at the opportunity to help cut it up. Sure enough, Monday he arrived with chain saws and other woodsman paraphernalia and worked away diligently at removing limbs and cutting the trunk into sections.  I departed for town to run those necessary but oh so time consuming errands. In t...
